STEVE MUEHLER & BLUE COAST SECURITIES TO FILE DEFAMATION LAWSUIT AGAINST ANONYMOUS ONLINE USERS OF SCAMBOOK.COM AND RIPOFFREPORT.COM

Mr. Steven J. Muehler and Blue Coast Securities Corporation today announced that it is moving forward with a defamation lawsuit against anonymous online users.

Los Angeles, CA – (Tuesday, August 13th, 2013) Mr. Steven J. Muehler, Chief Executive Officer of Blue Coast Securities Corporation, and Blue Coast Securities Corporation are in the process of filing a series of defamation lawsuits against a group of unidentified Internet users who have posted comments about Mr. Muehler and Blue Coast Securities Corporation on Scambook.com and RipoffReport.com.

The statements posted by seven parties at Ripoffreport.com and Scambook.com about Mr. Muehler and Blue Coast Securities Corporation, include accusations of illegal activity and misconduct. In each of the Lawsuits, Mr. Muehler and Blue Coast Securities Corporation are claiming the posts on Scambook.com and Ripoffreport.com have hurt both Mr. Muehler’s and Blue Coast Securities Corporation’s reputations and each has been irreparably damaged, according to advanced copies of each of the lawsuit filings.

Mr. Muehler and Blue Coast Securities Corporation last year became aware of various defamatory statements being posted on Ripoffreport.com and Scambook.com blogs, according to the lawsuit documents. The 32 to 57 page lawsuits include the various Scambook.com and Ripoffreport.com postings by ‘anonymous parties’ each identified by emails sent to Mr. Muehler or to Blue Coast Securities Corporation and the IP Address used to post each comment at Ripoffreport.com and Scambook.com.

When asked for a comment on the lawsuits on Monday, Mr. Muehler said, “To post a bad experience you may have had with a company is one thing, but to go out and post blatant lies and make false accusations about someone or a certain company is the text book definition of defamation, but then to go one step further and make the posting anonymous, or hide behind a screen name is just a disgusting cowardly act that should not be tolerated or protected by any Freedom of Speech Amendment. We reached out to the ‘extortionists’ who run the websites Scambook.com and Ripoffreport.com, and they just hide behind the Free Speech Amendment and say there is nothing they can do EVEN if they know the information posted on their website is not true. I believe, if you run and internet forum where citizens can post their thoughts and experiences about companies and people, and you know that statements about a person or a company posted on a website that you own and run are completely false and damaging, that website’s administrator should be REQUIRED to remove the information or be held liable for any damages incurred if they refuse to remove the posting. I highly doubt, when the founders of this country drafted the First Amendment giving us citizens the Freedom of Speech, I highly doubt it was to protect those who post false accusations, or for websites such as Scambook.com and Ripoffreport.com to shield them from any type of moral, ethical, civil or criminal liability for the content posted on their website, especially when the sole purpose of the statements posted are to defame or slander a person’s or company’s reputation.”

“In this country, we have both a civil process and a criminal process if one feels they have been wronged by another party, each one of these avenues could have been explored by those writing these false statements, if in fact the statements made were true. To date, not one has filed any civil papers, and to the best of our knowledge, no complaints to any Federal or State Authority has been filed as we have never been contacted by a single one of them. We have been contacted by representatives of Scambook.com and Ripoffreport.com offering to mediate the issues ‘for a fee of a few thousand of dollars’. Let me be clear, under absolutely no circumstances will we ever pay an organization such as Scambook.com or Ripoffreport.com a dime to mediate any issues we may have with any past or present client. Until I see proper documentation that either Ripoffreport.com or Scambook.com has any authority in any form of mediation, we will not be participating in anything of that nature, and anyone who would think that mediation through the people running an extortion style of business like Scambook.com or Ripoffreport.com is any form of remedy to any dispute is just plum crazy.”

The lawsuits, to be filed in multiple states, will be filed in the upcoming days and more information about the parties named in each lawsuit and the details of each lawsuit will be released as each filing occurs.
